Description

Define the transformation you take people through in your business

Create a client or personal evolution map to guide strategy, support, and product/offer design.

image

A guided clarity and strategy exercise that helps you map the transformation journey of yourself or your client. In this activation, you’ll define 3–5 stages of evolution, identify what’s needed at each point, and use the insights to align your offers, messaging, or personal development with real-time needs.

For Solopreneurs:

Use this when you’re pivoting, expanding, or trying to understand your own path more clearly. It’s especially useful if you feel overwhelmed, unclear on what to prioritize, or unsure how your offers align with where you (or your people) are now. Perfect for re-grounding in purpose and progression.

For Teams or Coaches:

Ideal for defining your ideal client journey, designing program flows, or onboarding materials. It helps team members or collaborators align on who you serve, how transformation happens, and what support is needed at every phase. Great for offer design, marketing clarity, or curriculum development.

✨ What You Get When Doing This

  • A clear visual roadmap of your or your client’s transformation journey.
  • A framework to match offers to needs at every stage of growth.
  • Confidence in where someone is now — and where they're headed.
  • Strategic insight into what tools, support, or messaging resonate most during each phase.
  • A compass for creating aligned services, courses, and communication that actually land.

🌱 The Philosophy Behind It

This exercise is rooted in the idea that transformation is cyclical, not linear.

Your clients (and you!) evolve in stages — just like a caterpillar becomes a butterfly. Each phase has different needs, challenges, and desires. Most businesses make the mistake of speaking to only one version of their client — or designing offers without clarity on where their people are.

Metamorphosis Mapping helps you:

  • Build empathy and relevance.
  • Create offers with natural progression.
  • Spot gaps in your ecosystem.
  • Guide people from where they are to where they’re meant to be.

1. 👤 Create a User Profile/Persona

Pick one “persona” — this could be your actual ideal client, an archetype, or yourself.

Use these prompts to build it out:

  • Name + Title (e.g., “Clara, The Becoming CEO”)
  • Age Range & Work Style
  • Core Challenges (internal + external)
  • Break these down into internal (emotional/mental) and external (situational/logistical) struggles.

    ✧ Internal Challenges:
    ✧ External Challenges:
  • What They Want
  • This is the aspiration — the vision that’s calling them forward. Get specific.

    ✧ Desires can include:
  • Buying Style or Support Needs
  • This helps you decide how to serve them best based on how they make decisions and what they need to feel safe, supported, and ready.

    ✧ Consider:
  • Archetype or Energetic Pattern (optional)
    1. This gives a deeper, symbolic or emotional shorthand for their energy at this stage. It’s optional, but powerful when used well.

      You can pull from:

    2. Jungian archetypes (e.g., The Seeker, The Hero, The Sage)
    3. Your own naming system (e.g., “The Burned-Out Caterpillar,” “The Chaos Creator”)
    4. Tarot cards, astrology, Human Design, or other intuitive systems
    5. ✧ Examples:

Bonus: Include a mantra or common phrase they say at this stage.

2. 🌀 Define each stage of the transformation

You’ll be creating 3–5 phases that describe the transformation journey of your user.

Use the butterfly metaphor or your own version. The four phases used in your work are:

  1. Seed of Potential – The beginning: hope, misalignment, stuckness
  2. Growth & Expansion – Chaos, curiosity, experimentation
  3. Refinement – Strategy, systems, and strengthening identity
  4. Mastery – Full embodiment, confidence, and aligned expansion

For each stage, define:

  • What they’re feeling
  • What they’re saying or questioning
  • What they need (clarity, structure, support, etc.)
  • What triggers the transition to the next stage
  • What kind of offers support them here

1. Seed of Potential

2. Growth & Expansion

3. Refinement

4. Mastery

5. 🚪 Gating Criteria: Defining the Threshold Between Stages

Gating criteria are the moments of shift — the internal or external actions, choices, or realizations that signal someone is ready to evolve into the next phase of their journey.

Think of each stage in your Metamorphosis Map like a room. The gating criteria is the door between them. Your job is to define:

🔑 What opens the door?

🪪 What proves someone is truly ready to move forward — not just mentally, but energetically and behaviorally?

6. 🔍 What to Look at Once You Create the Map

Once your map is complete, review it to uncover:

  • Offer Alignment – Are your current products/services supporting each stage?
  • Messaging Gaps – Are you speaking to where they are or where you want them to be?
  • Nurture Pathways – How do you guide people from one stage to the next?
  • Personal Resonance – If mapping your own journey, what support or structure would help you evolve?

Use your Metamorphosis Map as a tool to:

  • Validate your ecosystem
  • Refine your content strategy
  • Build offers that truly serve
